Hi! My name is Otilia Chavez, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist with 19 years of experience in the mental health field. I speak both English and Spanish and can support Spanish-speaking individuals and families. I work with individuals of all ages, providing developmentally appropriate and evidence-based interventions to support emotional healing and personal growth. I have professional experience across a range of settings, including a local mental health authority, school districts, and private practice. In these roles, I have provided support to individuals, children, and families through services such as skill development, behavioral intervention, collaboration with educational teams, and individual counseling. These responsibilities represent only a portion of my work within these settings and help shape a comprehensive, individualized approach to client care. I have received extensive training in both play therapy and trauma-focused modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and EMDR Sand tray Integrated approaches. Throughout my career, I have learned that the foundation of effective therapy lies in a trusting relationship with a skilled and specially trained therapist. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals can fully express themselves—whether through play or talk—to foster self-understanding and lasting emotional change.
